Normal Nerd Nites are stand-up comedy/TED talks, PowerPoint Karaoke will be improv comedy/TED talks. Presentations will all be fully improvisational with presenters either having never seen the slides before, or knowing what the slides are but getting audience input on what the topic to be covered will be! We’re still figuring out exactly what the details will be, but the one thing we’re sure of is that its going to be awesome! Social game starts at 6:30, Doors open for the show at 7:30, show starts at 7:45. If you have a topic you are passionate about and you’d like to be a speaker at a later event get in touch at !
June 1st will feature the following improv team:
Grandpa is a long-form improv team and part of the Arcade Comedy Theater’s house team program. Its ten members (Bev Conrique, Bradley Pollock, Ellen Lundie, Fred Frances, Jim Kiley, Kim Olivito, Max Rubenstein, Raina Deerwater, Sean Hunt, and Xaz Walker, with support & direction from coach Tyler Ray Kendrick) have individually been students, performers, producers and instructors at the Arcade Comedy Theater for years. Grandpa was created at the start of 2023 along with the rest of the “rebooted” Arcade house team program, which is Arcade’s way of showcasing its performers in a twice-monthly Friday-night show, Hot Spot.
Social game:
Our social game will take place before the show from 6:30-7:30. Similar to ‘Speed Dating’ or ‘Speed Networking’ our game is ‘Speed Friending’! Whether you are new to the city and hoping to make friends, trying to expand your professional network with other nerds, or are single and looking to mingle, the game is just about meeting new people! We have a system in place to rotate everyone around to meet someone new every 5 minutes, then you can fill out an online form with which conversations you enjoyed and we’ll email you your matches! You are welcome to join late, but if you want to get the most of it arrive at 6:15 to register and the first round will start at 6:30.
This event will be a fundraiser for the Cystic FIbrosis Foundation! Cystic fibrosis is a devastating genetic disease that affects the lungs and digestive system. 100% of the revenue after venue fees are covered will be going to suppor tthe foundation.
